The death toll from the ongoing clashes in Sudan has risen to 604 people, including civilians, the UN health agency said on Tuesday. The new figures come as representatives of the warring parties are holding talks in Saudi Arabia.
The fighting has displaced at least 334,000 people inside Sudan, and sent tens of thousands more to neighboring countries Egypt, Chad, South Sudan, the Central African Republic and Ethiopia, according to U.N. agencies.
Sudan’s army and its rival paramilitary said Sunday they will extend a humanitarian ceasefire a further 72 hours. The clashes have claimed hundreds of lives.
