Richmond's bicentennial year celebration began with a weekend of fire and ice, with fireworks Friday marking the 200th anniversary of the town's incorporation, and ice carving, ice history and ice skating scheduled for Saturday.
As in previous years, Carnaval Maine will feature live music, Bites and Brews and food trucks, but without snowmaking for "rail jams" or the need for shuttle buses and Narrow Gauge Railroad trains to bring visitors to the action.
One hundred miniature bears will be hidden around campus for students to find.
