midnight, 1:00 in the morning. they are trying to get home. a lot of them are just really, really sad and upset, you know, for the most part they were okay. a couple people were very hungry. some of the subway stops that i ve been to, at least there were some train cars so people could lay there, there was some air conditioning. and then in some there was just nothing. it was almost as if i was in a subway stop during the day rush hour. that is how many people i was seeing. and just people laying on the staircase, some of the benches, just wherever they could sit, some people were charging their phones, they found some outlets. for the most part people were taking it, you know, they were okay with it because they just felt stuck, what were they going to do. this was their only way to get home. a lot of people can t afford a cab. if you go from manhattan to queens, it gets very expensive. no doubt price gouging. some people were getting together with other train riders
of a subway station. devastating images that we re seeing. talk us through your experience at the subway station when water started gushing through the ceiling. thank you for having me. i was on my way home and everything seemed relatively normal. as for as the subway system in the operation is going. as soon as the doors opened to my subway stop, i immediately heard this rush of water that sounded like niagara falls, it sounded like niagara falls, it sounded like niagara falls, it sounded like a natural waterfall and i turned around and knows just an enormous crush of water. whats the situation on the ground today? asa as a changed? in our neighbourhood
and really, it is a just sad to see this because, you know, many people are just trying to get home. i have seen frontline workers, nurses, and delivery people on their bikes after spending the day delivering food. even in the rain out here. you know, delivering food. trying to get home. and so, that s what s going on now. people that are just stranded. nowhere to go. trying to figure out how to get home. i did see people up out on the streets that are trying to stop cabs and ubers to see if they could carpool maybe to get home in that way. people making friends here trying to figure out where do people live? and perhaps, they can share a ride. um, and i am seeing some lights here coming through the tunnel. so people here are getting excited thinking it s a subway but it looks like more track workers. there is a subway there is a car that s coming through the subway stop here. it s the c train. so let s see. maybe, people will be able to get on and and hopefully, start to head home
to see if they could maybe get a cab together. so that was happening. most of the people just sitting around, a lot of people just sort of surrendered and were sleeping. people were hungry. and then also what was interesting, i said you could go outside and get food, the train isn t coming. they were afraid to leave the subway stop. in many cases starving, you know, they were going to go home and eat let s say and they were just now afraid to leave the subway stop because they didn t want to miss the train. so it is new york, people get through this stuff, but it is really to see something like this, it was just very sad to see so many people sleeping on the dirty y subway platform. and the mta was making announcements saying there was no train, but no one was really coming around to talk to them. police started showing up to say
running with limited service. so they are running them. they seem to go up to a certain point, and then they can no longer run because there s still a lot of flooding in the subway system. other parts of the subway are still shut down. i m back at where i ve been most of the night in times square on the 7th avenue line. that is still remains shut down. there are still people everywhere here at the subway stop, sleeping, laying on the subway platform. some people sitting on stairs. others laying on benches. so there s still a lot of people who it seems still are going to be spending the night here. i was here a couple hours ago and i m still seeing the same faces that i saw here earlier. i did see some additional track workers working through here, walking through here.
