Police get order to hold cash seized from Malabar woman

THE police Financial Investigations Bureau (FIB) on Tuesday received an order for the detention of cash they seized at a woman’s home in Malabar on Sunday.
A release from the police said the application to detain $64,935 in cash was made at the Arima Magistrates’ Court. Senior magistrate Cheron Raphael granted the order.
The release said the cash was seized from the woman, who was identified by the police, by acting Insp Sterlin Taylor.
Representing the police in court was Cpl Mings, legal officer at the FIB.
The order was granted for three months to allow investigators to determine the source of the cash.

The TT Postal Workers Retirees Association has decided to forego its annual Christmas dinner in light of the coronavirus pandemic, and opted instead, to use funds raised through its through their raffle and other ventures, to distribute Christmas hampers to friends of the association. At the recent distribution ceremony, members of the executive, including president Jean Romeo, VP Joey McLean and PRO June Laing Williams drew the raffle. The first prize of a weekend stay at the Hilton was won by Joann Rodrigues. Stephen Plata won the second prize (a weekend stay at Alicia’s Guest House) and Joey McLean won the third prize, an ice-cream maker.
