Arkadianou Battles In First Round of NCAA Singles Tournament ORLANDO – Florida State’s Anna Arkadianou dropped a three-set battle to Page Freeman of Notre Dame 6-1, 6-7 (x), 6-3 in the first round of the NCAA Singles Tournament on Monday. “QUOTE” Arkadianou was the second alternate in the NCAA Singles Tournament and was officially added to the field Monday morning. The match began with Freeman taking the first set 6-1. Freeman continued her dominant play and took a 5-1 lead in the second set, moving one game away from victory. Arkadianou battled back and won six straight games to win the second set 7-6 (X). Arkadianou fought hard in the third set and was able to win two straight games to cut the lead to 5-3 before ultimately falling 6-3 in the deciding set. “QUOTE” Arkadinaou finished the 2022-23 season with 32 total wins, including 20 in dual-match competition. Cornut-Chauvinc falls in NCAA Singles Tournament

ORLANDO – Florida State’s No. 7-ranked Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc fell to Florida’s Axel Nefve in three sets 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 in the first round of the NCAA Singles Tournament on Monday.  After rain delays pushed the match back from its 6:00 p.m. start time, the first serve began at 11:35 p.m.  Nefve battled back from a 3-1 deficit to take the first set 6-3 after winning five straight games.  Cornut-Chauvinc’s dominant 6-1 second-set victory meant the match required a third set to determine a winner.  Nefve clinched the win and will advance to the second round of the NCAA Singles Tournament after a 6-3 third-set victory.  This was the second time Cornut-Chauvinc and Nefve played this season, with Cornut-Chauvinc earning a 6-1, 6-4 victory earlier over Nefve this spring.  Cornut-Chauvinc and Joshua Dous-Karpenschif will play Florida’s William Grant and Nefve in the NCAA Doubles Tournament on Tuesday.  Live stats and live video will be available on ncaa.co

Sandercock s Perfect Game Sends No 3 Softball to Super Regionals

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Perfection. With their backs against the wall, the third-seeded Florida State softball team (53-9) turned to their ace, Kathryn Sandercock, and she delivered with the Seminoles' 15th perfect game in school history to defeat South Carolina (40-22), 1-0, in a winner-take-all regional final matchup. The win advanced the Seminoles to their 10th Super Regional where they will host No. 14 Georgia in Tallahassee. Dates and times are still TBD. Sandercock's perfect game was the first solo perfect game since Meghan King did it on Mar. 12, 2016, against Tulsa. It was also Florida State's first perfect game in the NCAA Tournament. After South Carolina won game one 4-0 to force a second game, Sandercock got the start in the circle and gave a raucous crowd a lot to cheer about as she struck out the first batter she saw.
