Reports of graffiti more than doubled in Winnipeg compared to last year

WINNIPEG Reports of graffiti in Winnipeg have more than doubled so far this year compared to last year, and it is a problem a city councillor has noticed in his neighbourhood. The walking bridge to Assiniboine Park has received some unwanted paint jobs this spring. Graffiti is spattered across the bridge and on nearby signs. However, the Assiniboine Park bridge has not been the only target of vandalism in the area. Scott Gillingham, the city councillor for St. James, said he has heard concerns from several residents about graffiti popping up on city buildings, including Woodhaven Community Centre, and on bridges and properties around the Sturgeon Creek Trail.

Ventilation System Upgrades For Some Area Schools

Multiple COVID-19 cases linked to church s Easter service

iStock EMO, Ont. – An Easter church service in Emo, Ontario has been linked to at least five cases of COVID-19, health authorities have confirmed. Emo s Cavalry Baptist Church held an outdoor Easter service April 4. Images of the service posted to Facebook by church leaders garnered online criticism for an apparent lack of physical distancing and masks. The Northwestern Health Unit said Monday that five confirmed cases have so far been connected to the church s Easter service. Provincial regulations currently allow religious services to occur outdoors without attendance limits, provided there is enough room for attendees to maintain two metres of physical distance from others. There is no requirement for masks to be worn outdoors.

EPA Releases Proposed Cleanup Plan for Kerr McGee Chemical Corp Navassa Superfund Site in Navassa, North Carolina

(404) 562-8400 NAVASSA, N.C. (January 27, 2021) – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is issuing a revised proposed plan for OU1 for the Kerr-McGee Chemical Corp – Navassa Superfund site. EPA will hold a virtual public meeting to explain the proposed plan and answer questions. EPA released a proposed plan for Operable Unit 1 (OU1) in October 2019. It defined OU1 as 21.6 acres with an anticipated commercial/industrial land use. After receiving additional information from the town of Navassa, EPA and the state of North Carolina determined the reasonably anticipated land use for OU1 may include residential uses, not only commercial, industrial, or recreational uses. As a result of the change in anticipated land use, additional sampling was conducted in August 2020 to evaluate residential risk. Based on the sampling results, the 2021 proposed plan revises OU1 from 21.6 acres to 20.2 acres. The currently proposed 20.2-acre OU1 poses no current or potential thr
