The teaser ends with Buddy recreating the iconic scene from the climax of Lokesh Kanagaraj's Vikram in which Kamal Haasan attacks his rivals with an M2 Browning machine gun.
The producers of the film, KE Gnanvelraja of Studio Green Films banner registered the title of Suriya 42 as Kanguva. The movie marks the first pan-India release of Suriya.
