Boston U Prison Education Program celebrates 50 years of changing lives / Public News Service

Boston University s Prison Education Program is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and is hoping to expand. Students at Massachusetts Correctional Institution Norfolk and MCI Framingham are earning undergraduate certificates and Bachelor of Liberal Arts degrees, to reform their lives and find ways to give back to their communities upon release. Program Director Mary Ellen Mastrorilli said it offers hope for a better self, and her students are eager to learn. .

Students unite to defend DEI initiatives

Conversations about diversity, equity and inclusion are on the rise as lawmakers propose bills to restrict or ban DEI in state-funded institutions. The Black Voters Matter Fund, along with students and educators from North Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee, are joining forces to discuss the impact of anti-DEI initiatives in higher education. Kylie Rice, who attends a Historically Black College in North Carolina, expressed her concerns during a Higher Education Under Siege discussion. .
