Letter: Support the Student Tax OPtion Act Rockford Register Star My generation was able to obtain graduate degrees from the University of Illinois without loans. My children s generation had to borrow to obtain graduate degrees. My grandchildren’s generation need to incur family debt to obtain a graduate degree from the University of Illinois. The U of I have forecasted the cost for the next academic year for instate students is $30,000 and for out-of-state students $47,000. Our society has moved from passing on assets and education to future generations to burdening future generations with massive amounts of debt. As a fiscal conservative seeing almost 45 million Americans affected by the burden of student loans, I urge you to support the Student Tax OPtion Act (STOP Act).  Many loan holders, their families and their supporters are seeking relief from these loans which keep them from joining the middle class. Passing the STOP Act can result in increased cash flow to payers
