(Photo courtesy of CIDG) MANILA -A 58-year-old female personnel of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) is facing criminal charges after she was arrested by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in an entrapment in Quezon City. In a statement on Friday, CIDG chief, Maj. Gen. Eliseo DC Cruz, said the entrapment against Maria Fe Carpina Doringo, releasing and receiving officer at the LTO Novaliches District Office, stemmed from the complaint filed by Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) representatives. ARTA alleged that Doringo has been facilitating the release of Student Permits and Driver's License transactions in exchange for money. Cruz said operatives of the CIDG Quezon City Field Unit, together with ARTA representatives, launched an entrapment on Wednesday, resulting in the arrest of Doringo. Recto pointed out that Republic Act No. 10930, the law extending the validity of driver’s license to five years and strengthening the rules on the issuance of the licenses, does not call for such requirement. The same law was cited by the LTO in the memorandum circular it issued in December, 2019, to make the driving school certificate mandatory for the issuance of driver’s licenses.

(MANILA BULLETIN) NBI Officer-In-Charge Director Eric B. Distor identified those arrested Jay H. Tinio, Jojo R. Delim, and Abby Gail R. Pascua. Distor said the three were arrested last Monday, Feb. 1, during an entrapment operation conducted by operatives of the NBI’s Anti Organized and Transnational Crime Division (NBI-AOCTCD). “The case stemmed from an information received regarding individuals who are allegedly selling fake NBI clearances and other various government documents such as LTO (Land Transportation Office) ID/Student Permits, PSA (Philippine Statistics Authority) Birth Certificate, and TIN (Tax Identification Number) along Recto Avenue, Manila near Interface Computer College Recto Campus,” the NBI said in a statement.
