Rogue Valley Native coaches Olympic swimmers - KOBI-TV NBC5 / KOTI-TV NBC2

CENTRAL POINT, Ore. – An Oregon native is now coaching Olympians representing countries all over the world. She got her start right here in the Rogue Valley. Ashley Jahn began swimming at Superior Aquatics now called Superior Athletic Club. She swam for South Medford High School then moved onto a collegiate team. She told NBC5 News she could never swim away from the sport, so she started coaching for schools, like the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and the University of Tennessee. Now she has seven students competing on the global stage. “There are a lot of first-time Olympians in our group and that’s always a great experience and they are making the most of it,” said Jahn.

MEDFORD, Ore. – A local farmer is outraged about what he says is the lack of enforcement of illegal cannabis grows in Jackson County. The Medford farmer of 30 years says he’s had enough of this growing issue. While illegal grows aren’t a new problem in the Rogue Valley, he says this year is the worst he’s seen. Steve Fry is the owner and operator of Fry Family Farm in Medford. He’s been in the Rogue Valley for 3 decades. He has everything from strawberries to flowers. He was in the hemp industry, but it just wasn’t profitable.

I Resolve investigation released, finds teachers violated district policies

GRANTS PASS, Ores. – Less than a week after two Grants Pass School District educators were fired for violating several policies NBC5 News is getting a first look at the investigation. The school district hired a private investigator, former Grants Pass Police Chief Bill Landis to put together the report. The report is over 300 pages long. It’s broken up into 4 parts separating the two educators into individual cases. One part of the report is completely redacted. But the other elements paint a clearer picture of what the school board knew when making its decision to fire the educators. A report from Bill Landis and his firm Pacific Consulting and Investigations looked into the conduct of North Middle School Educators, Rachel Damiano, and Katie Medart. Landis’ report found they violated district policies and the school board followed his recommendation to terminate both educators in a 4-to-3 vote last Thursday.
