Marquette University called off a student convocation Thursday because of a protest by the Black Student Council of Marquette. Prior to when the convocation was supposed to take place, the Black Student Council said on Instagram, “The fact that they eliminated the entire Office of Engagement and Inclusion (OEI) without stating why is unacceptable.

A sophomore defender on Marquette s men s lacrosse team has been removed from the roster following a post on social media in which he was seen using a racial slur, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
The video circulated on Tuesday after being shared on social media by the Black Student Council of Marquette, and is the most recent of three instances of individuals involved with the men s or women s lacrosse team posing racially insensitive material on social media.
The men s lacrosse team begins its 2021 season this weekend, hosting Denver.
As has become commonplace in the wake of similar instances, prominent black voices within the lacrosse community expressed their disappointment at seeing the video.
