Gerald Williams, Director of Talent Development at the University of Rhode Island, was honored this fall by the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council at its annual meeting when the group presented him with the Gary S. Sasse Distinguished Public Service Award. .
The University of Rhode Island will welcome 3,300 first-year students over a two-day period (Sept. 1-2) to start the 2022-23 academic year. URI will also welcome 500 transfer students. Upperclass students will move in Sept. 3 and 4. New-student enrollment remains strong following another record-year for applications, with 25,400 for the upcoming year as compared to slightly more than 25,100 for the previous year. URI President Marc Parlange and other URI leaders will greet and welcome new students and their parents throughout the move-in period. .
