Joiner Craig Hackney plunged at least 13ft to his death from the top of a ladder after being electrocuted.
The self-employed tradesman was replacing rotting wood on the front of a house when tragedy struck.
The 37-year-old, from Abbey Hulton - who was working just 12 inches away from two electrical cables and a phone line - could be heard moaning and groaning at the top of his aluminium ladder.
