The historic first meeting of the brand new Bexhill Town Council took place last Wednesday (May 19).

Cllr Paul Plim at the Lane memorial in the town square. Lt Col Henry Lane was the first Chair of Bexhill Local Board, the first Chair of Bexhill Urban District Council, and was known as the father of Bexhill local government. SUS-210525-152351001
It was the first local government meeting to take place at Bexhill Town Hall since the Covid-19 restrictions came into place in March 2020 and was livestreamed on YouTube.
The meeting was opened by Rother Councillor Christine Bayliss, who chaired the Rother steering group that ultimately led to the creation of the town council.

River Clyde Our latest Picture of the Week sees us travel back in time to June of this year and a picture by reader Stuart Earl of the cruise ship Azamara Pursuit gliding gracefully along the clear waters of the River Clyde. The vessel and her sister ships - Azamara Quest and Azamara Journey - have been laid up at the King George V Dock in Glasgow since the summer as their owners await an end to the Covid-19 pandemic and the hoped-for recovery of the cruise holiday market.
