Laws Delighted With Fantastic Winter

Leiston boss Danny Laws says Town academy striker Tom Winter has been “fantastic” since he joined the Ryman League Premier Division side on loan last month and would be delighted if other young Blues were to spend time at Victory Road in the future. Winter has netted four times since making the temporary switch to Leiston last month.
“He’s doing fantastic,” Laws told TWTD. “He came in at very short notice, which was good for us because we were up against a deadline of March 31st and I’d only been in the job a couple of days.

Town’s youngsters face Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division Central Leiston in the semi-finals of the Suffolk Premier Cup at Felixstowe & Walton’s Goldstar Ground this evening (KO 7.45pm).
The Blues have fielded essentially an U18s team for the last few seasons with one or two older fringe players augmenting the side.
Adem Atay and Kieron Dyer s side reached the semi-finals by beating Kirkley & Pakefield 3-1 at Walmer Road last month, having defeated Walsham-le-Willows on penalties in the second round.
The final - where the opponents will be either Felixstowe & Walton or Stowmarket Town, whose semi-final was postponed last night - will be played at Portman Road on Wednesday 8th May, one of six county finals Town are hosting this season.

A young Town reserve side comfortably beat Harwich and Parkeston in occasionally atrocious conditions in a friendly at the Shrimpers Royal Oak ground.
Town took the lead in the seventh minute when Ian Westlake was quickest to react after Dean Bowditch s shot had been saved by the Harwich keeper.
On 23 the Blues scored again when Sam Morrow ran on to a long ball, took the ball past the keeper before slipping the ball past a host of defenders on the line from an acute angle.
Four minutes later Bowditch added the third, turning well inside the box and shooting across the keeper after a ball into feet from Stuart Boardley.
