Police in Monroe County did their part to make Christmas special for a 4-year-old in Stroud Township.
Madeline Hewitt was diagnosed with cancer in the fall.
Stroud Area Regional Police enlisted the help of Santa and paraded around Madeline s house before stopping and giving her some gifts.
Madeline s gifts included a dollhouse and a smartwatch.
Madeline s dad says these gifts are particularly special because of the community effort. I really appreciate everything that the community is doing for us. The police, the fire department, all the local community members, it really means a lot to us, said Chris Hewitt.

A Christmas charity created to honor the memory of a fallen police officer was especially meaningful this year for the first responders who run it.
They were able to help out the family of another fallen officer.
There was certainly a nip in the air on the patio at Pub 447 in East Stroudsburg but for the Flaherty boys, it felt as warm as Christmas morning.
The kids lost their dad to cancer earlier this year.

MONROE COUNTY, Pa. A garage bay at the back of Stroud Area Regional Police Department in East Stroudsburg is filled with all kinds of toys for children.
The items were given to the department for its annual Olsen Christmas Wish toy distribution.
Gifts are given to families in need in Monroe County. We have talked to people who didn t know if their kids would have a Christmas. They already told their kids they are not having a Christmas this year. It s heartbreaking. It just kills you.
