Democr democrats and republicans in the house still have an important vote to take. But i want to thank the leaders of both houses for getting an agreement. Once this comes to my desk, i will sign it immediately. And well reopen of our government, and we can begin to lift this cloud from our businesses and from the American People. Ill have more to say about this tomorrow. And i have some thoughts about how we can move forward in the remainder of the year, and stay focused on the job at hand. Because there is a lot of work ahead of us, including our need to earn back the trust of the American People that has been lost over the last few weeks. What this means is that House Speaker john boehner passed the bill without the support of his own members. But thanks to all of the democrats and minority of his caucus who did support him in this vote we brought about the end to this self imposed National Crisis tonight. President obama is expected to sign the bill right away as in basically now. After that the federal government will begin the work of reopening itself after this long and painful shutdown. The office of management and budget is advising employees to expect to return to work in the morning as in a few hours from now. President obama spoke briefly tonight after the vote saying he intended to get going on policy mentioning immigration and the farm bill, the policymaking that has been shoved off the agenda. National debt by the skin of our teeth. Starting right now, midnight, the source the moment that the u. S. Treasury said we would begin the risk of defaulting on National Debt if congress did not raise the debt ceiling. With 90 minutes to spare, the house finally did vote to avoid that catastrophe, voted to raise that on end the shut down. The bill had passed the Senate Earlier by a vote of 8118. The 18 no votes were all republican no votes. All of the Senate Republicans voted in favor of ending the crisis. That is not true in the house. Democrats voted yes as a bloc, unanimous on the idea that the u. S. Should not the fault and the government should reopen. Most of them voted no on that. I think its a great asset for democrats. They have tried 45 times to do the same thing, and they lost every time to defund obama care. Now we have a new deal. What were going to do is hold a bunch of hearings and try to embarrass the president this way. All their yelling and screaming about obama care, what is their alternative in they dont have one. That came after nancy pelosi made it clear she believes it was the bank bailout affectionately known as t. A. R. P. And not obama care that torpedoed them in 2010. I dont buy into the idea we lost the election because of the health care. One of the most damaging votes our members had to take was the t. A. R. P. That was really the vote that sort of soured people. They didnt like that vote at all. Still even as some red state democrats go to survival mode not all are climbing aboard the freakout train.
