most of the land around these canals is three feet tall. and the surge may be nine feet tall. because of this. because the storm. now half of it, at least back in the water. and it actually made landfall around 4:30 this morning so about five hours on shore. but now the center of the eye has moved back into the warm water. which means the storm will begin to regenerate. it will begin to get stronger again. and then turn to the north and likely turn to the east. ahead of this, on the east side of this, will be tornados today and waterspouts and there have street flooding around miami. and the east winds could push more water into biscayne bay. but you asked about the tracks of the storms. are they still 40 or 50 miles apart. yes. and would 40 or 50 miles maybe a tremendous difference,acious. there is another model. it just
hurricane ida last year, to hurricane fiona that we just saw in puerto rico, these are bringing rainfall with them which is causing a lot of inland and street flooding. so even if you re not in that direct path, everybody needs to make sure that they re paying attention. we spoke to tampa fire and rescue in the last hour, and they were making the point that evacuated from the coast doesn t mean you have to drive 500 miles away. inland helps, particularly when storm surge is a primary threat. does that still hold in your view, given that the risk is not confined as you were just describing there to just folks right on the beach? well, i think it does. because the most significant part that we see is from storm surge. and we want to make sure that we are protecting people from, as you heard just recently, and the previous report, six to eight feet of storm surge. very dangerous. the state has done a lot of good work of identifying places that are safe to go and so what i would say is
