It happened just before 4 p.m. in the 1000 block of South Collier Boulevard.
The Marco Island Police Department says the 17-year-old’s father attempted CPR before the teen was rushed to the hospital. You can hear the father giving CPR during the 911 call. “1, 2, 3, 4…”
A woman was able to capture the boom of thunder before the lightning strike on video. She was also the one who called 911 to help first responders find the boy.
You can hear her frantically screaming on that 911 call. “We’re in front of the South Seas Tower on Marco Island Beach, someone got struck by lightning,” they said.
