We would like to thank the cochairs, Bob Goodlatte and senator john sthune for hosting us today. We talk about salient topics to the internet and policy, and likes to come out to events for the summer. We have several excellent panelists with us. From the center for democracy, roughshod hussein from the department of justice, countering violent extremism over there and Shamus Hughes on the program for extremism at George Washington university for cyber and homeland security. Our work in cuba is no different than our efforts to promote freedom of expression and uncensored access to information in the ukraine, russia, belarus, iran, china, or north korea. It should be noted that in the bill there is 76 billion set aside to promote global Internet Freedom and democracy in closed societies like cuba, where the regime allows no independent press and limits access to the internet. You see what happens with a very wellmeaning regulation. I think the two things that people in congress who are concerned with this issue and regulators should always keep in mind is that everything should be in the direction of increasing transparency, genuine transparency not the radical transparency where people will know what is happening rather than digging through 800 documents. Actual transparency and two being very sensitive to the incentive system they are creating in the financial markets. People respond to incentives.
