SCVNews com | City Set to Unveil Newest Art Exhibit Creative Comforts

Food fills our stomachs and our emotions. It satisfies our cravings, warms our souls and makes us feel safe. Food is the subject of the city’s mouth-watering new art exhibit titled “Creative Comforts” which will be available for viewing from March 15 through May 14. In conjunction with the Santa Clarita Library’s One Story One City Program, this exhibit parallels the 2021 book choice, “Eat Joy: Stories and Comfort Food from 31 Celebrated Writers.” This delicious exhibition of comfort food-themed artwork will be available for viewing at the First Floor Gallery in City Hall, and virtually. The exhibit will feature artwork from 25 artists, showcasing their favorite comfort food such as hamburgers, mac and cheese, cornbread, grandma’s peanut butter cookies and more.

Santa Clarita Public Library Announces Book Selection For 2021 One Story One City Program

To celebrate “Eat Joy,” City staff have put together a diverse lineup of activities and virtual events set to occur throughout the month of March. Some of the scheduled programs include a Zoom Mac & Cheese Cook-Along, a “Comfort Foods” Art Exhibit, Food Trivia Game Night and a Zoom conversation with “Eat Joy” editor Natalie Eve Garrett. Grab and Go Craft Kits will also be available for pickup at each library branch on select dates. Due to the content covered, this book is recommended for adults and is not suitable for young readers under the age of 16.   The ‘One Story One City’ program is free and is held in partnership with Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library. To learn more about this event or view the full lineup of future events, visit their website here or contact Library Administrator Gina Roberson at groberson@santa-clarita.com.
