from her personal account. that could mean potentially hundreds of such e-mails exist in the 55,000 pams of e-mails that clinton camp turned over. this morning secretary of state john kerry was on the today show asked about the controversy and here s a portion of his response. in the state department we have a whole team working extremely hard to get all of the required e-mails out, public as fast as possible. and i can t wait until that happens. i m sure hillary can t, either. and i m sure it will be cleared up with the final release as we get that done. but we are working very hard to get that done as fast was humanly possible. msnbc political reporter alex seitz-wald joins me from washington, d.c. we see the shot up on the left-hand side of the screen for clinton coming up. what is the clinton campaign saying in response to this story and do we know whether she is the specific target of the inquiry? yes, thomas. it s certainly another
distraction for the clinton campaign. at 3:09 this morning nick merrill spent out a statement saying that hillary clinton did nothing wrong. they said that any classified information many her e-mails was only classified after she sent it. in other words, at the time of her sending it there was nothing classified and otherwise complied entirely with all rules and regulations. their pointing out the new york times made a pretty large change to the lead and headline of its story. it all started with a new york times story published around midnight last night shortly after it was published it went from saying that clinton was the target of the investigation to just saying that there was an investigation connected to clinton s e-mails. so right now we don t know if clinton is a target of this requested investigation and we should say the investigation has not preceded it yes. just a request. we don t know what the scope of the investigation is. is it about the e-mails themselves contain
