SAMPLER: Marlborough librarian passes away Mary Wenzel For years, I have been wishing Mena Hedin a happy birthday on Feb. 19, but this year my heart offers sympathy to her family and friends as Mena passed away on Jan. 14, 2021, at the age of 83. Mena was a familiar face at the Marlborough Public Library from 1953 to 2012 when she retired after 59 years. Mena worked in both the Adult Room and Children’s Room, telling tales at the Children’s Story Hour to many generations of families. “She was always smiling,” reminisced Cathy Miola of Marlborough. “I can’t remember how many Story Hours with Mena that I listened to with my three children.”
