Storrowton Village tours STEAM ahead

Visitors may find steam coming from the Blacksmith Shop at Storrowton Village Museum, but it isn’t the same as the STEAM tours now being offered.
STEAM which stands from science, technology, engineering, art and math is gaining popularity in schools across the country. It is a philosophy of education that that is based on creativity and innovation. An interdisciplinary approach to learning, STEAM education is focused on project-based and problem-based learning designed to prepare students to succeed in today’s world as innovators and leaders contributing to the future.
The special tours will provide an opportunity to share New England history with visitors through the lens of other disciplines and fields that people don’t often connect with history museums. Storrowton Village offering small tours during school vacation week

WEST SPRINGFIELD Storrowton Village Museum has resumed limited operation with its small group tours, providing a safe, socially-distanced, mask-wearing, educational experiences for visitors of all ages.
General museum tours focus on 18th and 19th New England history, as well as the life and work of museum founder Helen O. Storrow. In addition to general museum tours, held Tuesday through Friday at 11 a.m., Storrowton this week will offer a 3 p.m. tour focused entirely on science, technology, engineering, art and math. Additional STEAM tours are available at 1p.m. this week from Tuesday through Friday during school vacation as well as in April.
