Stormont Vail Events Center renovations has been 10 years and $35 7M

The process of renovating the Stormont Vail Events Center has essentially come to a close as 10 years of work has mostly been completed. Kellen Seitz, general manager of the Stormont Vail Event’s Center for Spectra Venue Management, said work is 99% complete all that remains is landscaping delayed by the recent rainy weather. “This was long overdue,” said Shawnee County commissioner Kevin Cook at Thursday’s commission meeting. “This gives us a completely new facility to be able to enjoy.” The location served as the Kansas Expocentre after improvements were made in the 1980s, but Cook said the center hadn t see many improvements since. The area used to serve as the location of the Kansas Free Fair and the Topeka Fairgrounds.
