expected in land atlanta and up east coast. what are you seeing there and could weather hurt all holiday travelers? reporter: it could and that s why so many people are watching the weather up and down the east coast. there are some 34 million people now who are in the path of those storms so we re keeping our eyes on cities like atlanta, miami, charlotte, d.c. all of the airports there could be impacted by these storms. that s not good news because we ve been dealing with a number of delays and cancellations throughout the holiday weekend. as things stand now, it s better than what we saw over the weekend. as of now, there are about 1100 delays and more than 90 flight cancellations but that number is up from what we saw earlier today. so already, those numbers are ticking higher and higher and as the storm rolls in, we could see
code 3 if you haven t already started. reporter: before sunrise the brunt of the deadly storm tore across the state. in san francisco, a family trapped in a car finally freed by firefighters. further north, a 2-year-old child killed by a falling tree. when i first arrived on scene, a frantic father came out of the house holding the child. reporter: while 21 million remain under a flood watch, wind shredded the region. up to 106-mile-an-hour gusts in the mountains. tree down for the three down on a person. you wake up this morning. you walk out the front door, what do you see? oh, my god, this thing. i had to do a double take. it was like a bomb went off. reporter: as authorities fear landslides, the atmospheric river that caused the torrential l rain is papart of a pineapple express. now as first responders race to washed out roads, downed trees and damaged homes, the cleanup begins. just as another storm rolls in.
