With the winter weather adding plenty of snow to the roads in Central New York, state police are advising those who can stay home, to stay home.
The New York State Police will be out across the region checking all major routes of travel to ensure that motorists are as safe as possible. The State Police need your assistance to make this possible. They provided these simple requests this morning:
1) Motorists traveling in areas impacted by the snow are asked to leave with extra time to make a slow and careful drive to your destination.
2) Take into consideration snow accumulation on the roads, the current snowfall rate, the wind, and visibility.

Stay Off Of Utica And Rome Roads If Possible

Tractor Trailer Ban on New York State Thruway
Update 2/2/2021: All tractor bans have been lifted.
A tandem, long and short, ban is in effect on the New York State Thruway for tractor trailers.
The ban is on several roadways including I-87 from the New York City Line to Exit 24 (Albany - I-87 - I-90) in Albany. All of I-95 (New England Thruway) and I-287 (Cross Westchester Expressway) has banned tandem tractor trailers.
Trailer bans are also being implemented on roadways outside of the Thruway system. Empty trailers and tandem trailers will be banned on I-84 from Pennsylvania state line to Connecticut state line, on Route 17 East of Binghamton to the New Jersey state line, and on the entire length of I-684.
