skies that were rather ominous in the background there. you can see the outer rain bands of what was tropical storm bonnie approaching nicaragua and what it looked like out over the open waters of this ocean country. the storm now has re-emerged into the eastern pacific, and it is going to get its act together. you can see how more developed it has become now that it s got the fuel from the warm ocean waters. we do believe that the storm will eventually slide just south of el salvador and guatemala and basically ride parallel with the coast of mexico. but look at this, the official forecast track from the national hurricane center does have this approaching category 1 atlantic hurricane strength. fortunately the storm doesn t pose a threat to any more land mass, so it will stay offshore, and we can say good-bye to tropical storm bonnie. thanks so much, derek van dam, appreciate it. a busy travel holiday is turning into a nightmare across
migrants are already fleeing from something horrible. they left their country to look for safety. and instead of being welcomed in the u.s., they re being told that they have to wait in the mexican side of the border because of policies like remain in mexico and title 42. so that is causing an accumulation of migrants in the mexican side of the border. so these numbers that we see, the data that we see of people crossing through the desert, and more recently maritime attempts have also increased. we don t have data how many people have perished as they ve attempted to cross through the ocean because border patrol doesn t keep data for that. we know more and more people are dying. we don t have the exact figures. when somebody goes missing in the desert, oftentimes it doesn t go reported. these figures could be a lot higher in reality. yeah, i ve been to some of those shelters in tijuana and seen some of the conditions there. they can be really appalling. and dangerous, as you say. yo
again, earlier as, i was coming in, there were sheets of rain as i was watching, and then there were concerns from the drivers coming into work they wouldn t even be able to get us into work because the weather was so bad. and the flood warnings as well. this is really this is tough stuff. and imagine what they dealt with down south, right? we re getting just the remnants of that. but imagine what they ve dealt with in louisiana and mississippi and so on. so we ve talked about this being a historic storm, one we ve not seen as far as how slow it s moving, maintaining that strength across southern louisiana for almost six hours and of course now it pushes across the northeast. the impacts are going to be far greater even if the storm doesn t have the same ferocity when it comes to winds. water rescues are taking place
