mandatory evacuations underway for parts of the state and the state of emergency has been declared in 35 counties as the storm barrels toward the coast. people are doing what they can to prepare, filling sandbags and lining up to get gas ahead of time. if you are under an evacuation order, leave, don t wait. there are people to help you and no excuse, you got to keep your family safe. reporter: is not just rain that is the concern but the threat of tornadoes and 8 to 12 foot storm surge large enough to crest over the roofs of homes. hurricane michael is a massive storm that can bring total devastation to our state especially in the panhandle. reporter: the storm caused major damage in central america, 13 people died over the weekend after michael formed off the coast of northern honduras. donald trump says his administration is ready to provide whatever support is needed. we urge all residents to be prepared and to heed local officials.
