he has the latest. good morning, doug. good morning. in many ways it is about face saving measures with the president wanting to say he didn t negotiate and republicans wanting to point to some kind of concession. the president yesterday a little bit of a budge. my simple point is this, the democrats in the senate and house are prepared to talk about anything. i am prepared to talk about anything. they can design whatever format they want. an offer to talk only if they pass stopgap funding and raise the debt ceiling enough for a few weeks or months. at the same time democrats in congress were talking about something different piling on another trillion dollars plus to the national debt without any spending cuts. we can t raise the debt ceiling without doing something about what is driving us to borrow more money and live beyond our means.
