Enterprising young couple, Ross and Elaine Pattinson, have packed a lot into the last decade – establishing their successful pedigree Top Side British Blue herd, setting up a commercial dairy herd – and, most recently, diversifying into direct sales of milk to customers. In their first farming business together, the couple took on the tenancy of Temon Farm, near Brampton, right on the Cumbria-Northumberland border, in 2011. The Cumbrian-born pair first set up their small herd of Blues which, within a short space of time, was winning accolades in the show ring and achieving leading prices at pedigree sales – as well as breaking new ground in British Blue polled cattle breeding.

Hot on the heels of its Vantage Solo design (now being manufactured by Thompson Aero Seating), London-based Factorydesign has revealed details about its mid-market hybrid business class seat for narrow body long-haul aircraft.
Trying to navigate the economics and ergonomics of a premium product on a narrow body aircraft proves one of the most difficult balancing acts. Economics of these aircraft doesn’t allow for a traditional all-aisle access lie-flat business class seat, which passengers have now been spoilt by on wide-bodied aircraft.

Philips TV Tuner History pt5
Competition and Growth
Introduction
We have reached the end of the 1980s, probably the turning point in the Philips Tuner history. On the one hand the business has been doing well: constant consolidation of (mainly European and US) competitors has substantially increased the market share and volumes, making it one of the global top3 tuner makers. However, in parallel the emergence of Japanese competition has made the business environment increasingly harsh, with a serious pressure on profitability and thus cost. Although Philips with its UV800 tuner family has probably made the best tuner ever in terms of robustness and performance, this model is clearly too big and expensive and in the coming two decades we will see a continuous drive for cost reduction and the associated size reduction. One of the most remarkable steps in this context is the move to the World Standard Pinning (WSP), with Philips agreeing with its main competitors Alps and Matsushita

Teledyne Marine announced the launch of its new Ultra Compact Modem (UCM). At 60 by 50 millimeters, and weighing 55 grams, the OEM version of the UCM is the smallest acoustic modem ever designed by Teledyne Benthos.
The UCM is based on Teledyne Benthos’ signal processing technology to address the need for reliable wireless underwater acoustic communications onboard the growing number of autonomous micro vehicles and other subsea instruments. As the size of these micro vehicles continues to decrease, Teledyne Marine has responded with lightweight, low power, proven sensors and systems to expand the usefulness of these platforms, increasing the number of tasks they can perform, the manufacturer said.
