committee will begin considering whether to draft articles of impeachment against president trump. for one of the democrats on which committee, this is the third impeachment inquiry she s part of, congresswoman zoe lofgren worked for three proceedings on them against president nixon, president clinton and now president trump. and the california congresswoman joins me now. wow, that is quite a history you have there. thank you for joining us today. so your committee will hold the first public hearing in the impeachment inquiry on wednesday. just hours after the house intelligence committee is expected to approve its report and send it over to your committee. we ve seen a lot of public testimony in the last few weeks. what is the biggest question left in your mind ahead of the beginning of your hearings? well, i think unlike some of the other proceedings, we got the best evidence at the very
there but i do think it is important to follow a specific process to build the case and the narrative of what happened and that is exactly what you saw adam schiff do the last couple of weeks. go ahead. i was going to say there is another reason why i think they should participate is there are multiple areas that the judiciary committee will consider in the articles of impeachment. there is the underlying crime itself and decide whether or not that meepts t meets the condition of high crimes and misdemeanor to get money for his domestic political use and then there is the obstruction of justice charge. and the president not contributing in the process and continuing to stonewall the judiciary committee not giving documents and testimony and not participating in the process i think acseg accelerates the impose up for obstruction of justice charge and that is not constitutional. and you might just get some
the what we were talking about a moment ago you re saying it is more serious than what nixon did and yet not ready to go there on flatly saying that the arts the articles of impeachment will pass. i want to let the process play out. we re going to have our hearing. then we ll have debate that includes all of the members of the committee including the republican members. we ve invited the president or his counsel to appeal to provide information. and let s see this process play out. you know, if we ve got it wrong, it doesn t look like we do. but i would welcome an opportunity to reach a different conclusion about the president s misconduct. this is not a great time for the country to have a president revealed as doing something so counter productive to the national interest. it would be wonderful if there
