and personally shocked by what happened january 6th. i had not expected anything like that to happen. i had expected a certain level of unrest, but that mob were able to breach the capitol buildings came took me aback. and i think stone was also shocked about, you know, when reporting of casualties came in and all of these police officers that had been injured, he wanted to get out of town as quickly as possible. he got on the phone with a friend who had a jet standing by at an airport nearby, and got a ride out of town very quickly. do you know who had the jet? not for sure. not so certain that i would say it here. understood. i think it was documented in the january 6th committee s work. okay. you know, not everyone has a jet on stand by to get out of a
rightly so. andrew is here, and i very much was curious to hear your analysis of all of this because you were a top prosecutor in that probe. i think folks remember bob mueller was very careful, didn t comment a lot, but he did put that statement out in writing, which was his view that stone is rightly a convicted felon, even if the federal process does allow for pardons, something i think everyone has been reminded of. what do you see as important here in the fact that mr. stone, while not named by any stretch that we can tell as a coconspirator by jack smith or the atlanta d.a. seems to have again popped up, saying and doing certain things that at least bring him into the orbit. first, kudos to you and your team because this is remarkable footage to be breaking, and i have no doubt that the department of justice, through the special counsel are going to be, if they have not already,
can t even tell us where to go. it doesn t make sense. i think you just got your answer. that we re not speaking. yeah. if we were speaking, we would have transportation, as giuliani did. it s fine. let s go upstairs and watch this on tv. it s very clear, i was never on their list. the whole thing was a con job. no, it s infuriating. it s just childish and it s amateurish. that s why they lost. they don t know what they re doing. i hear you. all right. i ll talk to you in a bit. you re hearing the voice of roger stone who then comes in on camera. it s all picked up on audio on the phone. it s why they lost. now, in public, roger stone spent months pushing the lies that trump actually won or the race was stolen. he was one of the people touting the stop the steal online. he pushed that message out to other groups and militias that he was seen with. the footage also shows some of the tension here between stone and the official campaign.
believed trump won, even if delusionally it was their actual belief, yet, in the new video, here is stone on january 6th casually referring to the fact that donald trump lost. as he refers to they, the trump campaign officials. so that s why they lost. they don t know what they re doing. it s why they lost. they don t know what they re doing. i m going to show you this in wider context. the outburst came as he learned how trump officials welcomed support for the march on the capitol, not him speaking at the infamous rally with the now indicted trump, and now indicted giuliani and eastman spoke to the crowd which then stormed the capitol. here it is in context. stone on the 6th learning that he was apparently not going to join them and get to speak up at that lectern that day. i don t understand how they wanted us to lead the march but
any sort of excuse. he tried that hype last time around. remember, roger stone is a convicted seven time felon, he was convicted of witness tampering, obstruction of congressional investigation, five different counts of false statements to congress. the jury took just seven hours to convict him, ari. even with his hype defense. and the only reason stone isn t in jail is because donald trump pardoned him. and so, you know, i think the kind of things that he was directing, he is kind of a bridge between the coupers, the people who are actually invading the capitol, and the coup plotters and the inner circle of the white house. you know, just to take one example, the footage you showed last week, two days before the election roger stone has a set plate to say there s doubt about the election and now the phoney lawyers have to come in and say that state legislators can
