Elevator, going down for lunch, did she just accuse the former president of this. everyone s kind of mulling over and digesting what it is we all just heard. the jurors, i think, have been admirably sort of stone faced. i know i ve seen reports i didn t see it with my own eyes but i ve seen reports of some jurors kind of involuntarily reacting to some of the more salacious details that came out, particularly during stormy daniels etestimony. i didn t see anything like that. for me the jury was like stonehenge, just like head, head, head, head. like they were very restrained. this is a case about falsifying business record, and the defense team made it a case that sounded like a 190s rape case. they went at her really hard about the fact that she s been in the porn industry for years. the defense counsel said you ve been in more than 200 porn film, so how could you be this dam sal in distress in the hotel room, and in that moment, i looked a @ jurors faces to see if i could
and the court was turning a blind eye to that. were they looking at each other? could you feel the tension that was so evident in the back and forth in the writing? that s so interesting, because i m watching all of them. i had a front row seat to see what they re doing. and justice ketanji brown jackson, the very first african american woman on the court who, you know, really lost in this dispute is looking out at spectators, tense, stone-faced, but not looking at her colleagues, trying apparently to betray any emotion. justice sotomayor incorporated some of her thoughts into her dissent from the bench, but justice jackson said nothing, looked straight ahead. now some of the other justices watched the chief and justice thomas as they read, looking over. but you could have heard a pin drop in that room, john, during, as i said, the nearly hour of reading. a witness to history once
he walked down the aisle slowly and walked down. we all saw the picture of him in the courtroom looking grim, stone faced, and exhausted and for the first time possibly in his life, donald trump heard and was presented with, some accountability not just possible crimes that he committed, the 34 felony counts against him. but he was presented with his behavior before a judge. threatening the lives of american citizens. threatening death and destruction, threatening world war iii, he was not allowed to really speak back in any strong way. he was presented with what he has done, what he has said, and what it could mean to this case. and yes, some people may not see this case as big as perhaps the january 6th investigation, the mar-a-lago documents investigation, the georgia case. but in a way, this case, this
falsifying business records in new york. then also within that, using those records to help suppress a story that may have done damage to his campaign. those are the charges. 34 of them. mr. trump walked in, the former president trump walked in. he seemed to have a bit of a swagger. he looked stoic, stone-faced. he plead not guilty, said not guilty. at some point the prosecution brought up all of the social media posts that he has put out recently including one where he s holding a bat next to d.a. bragg. the prosecution said this is could be looked at as inciting violence. they wanted the judge to seemed like they wanted him to give a gag order. the justice said that no, he wouldn t give a gag order. he said to mr. trump and to his attorneys, i don t want to see this anymore. i don t the next time i see
