 December 23, 2020 (BEDFORD) – Bruce Ervin of First Christian Church in Bedford is now the chairman of the board at the Men’s Warming Center. The shelter began as a ministry of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church and the Salvation Army, with Father Rick of St. Vincent providing much of the vision, leadership, and heavy lifting. “In my 40 years of ministry I have worked extensively with men and women experiencing homelessness. When one of our homeless neighbors began sleeping out in my churches parking lot in 2018, I knew I had to join Father Rick in moving our ministry with homeless men to a deeper level,” said Ervin. That led to the hiring of shelter staff that fall to the formation of the Stone City Alliance for Recovery and Hope (SARAH). Ervin serves on the Board of Directors.
