Police say Palau Vega outfitted his 2011 Volkswagen Jetta TDI with a 50-gallon fuel tank in the rear of his vehicle and attempted to purchase fuel at three different gas stations using stolen credit cards. With the assistance of the Martin County Sheriff s Office, Vega was arrested and charged with unlawful transportation of fuel, possession of personal identification, trafficking in counterfeit credit cards, and ongoing scheme to defraud.

Around 3:45 p.m. Monday, a deputy patrolling a parking lot on the 25400 block of The Old Road in Stevenson Ranch observed a man slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle, said Deputy Natalie Arstriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “The deputy approached the vehicle to conduct a welfare check and observed various drug paraphernalia within reach of the male,” Arriaga said.
