The Fort St. John and District Chamber of Commerce is asking the B.C. government for funding to help farmers and ranchers affected by the May Stoddart Creek and Red Creek wildfires to rebuild critical fencing for their cattle damaged in the blaze.
In the letter, the Chamber said that many ranchers and farmers in the North Peace are "in grave danger" of not being able to properly care for their livestock for the rest of the year and into the winter feeding cycle.
Some local businesses have come forward to support farmers in the Peace region by rebuilding their fences after they were destroyed by recent wildfires.
