Re: Nicholas Oatway’s Feb. 19 Op-Ed, “Open hearts to make Chaparral property ‘alive’”:
I found Mr. Oatway s Op-Ed calling for open hearts to make Chaparral property alive to be inspiring and visionary. The Ojai Unified School District trustees should give serious consideration to Mr. Oatway s proposal, as I stated in an email to Shelley Griffen, trustee of my district.
I encourage other residents interested in the redevelopment of the Chaparral property to make similar requests. Local architect Oatway s vision seems much more compatible with the “Ojai way” than the site plan proposed by an outside firm.

Cllr Philip Dixon and Cllr Andrew Jarvis, both in favour of raising parking charges. PARKING charges are to rise in a number of South Lakes car parks. Town centre parking will be hit first, with outer town carpark s getting away with any immediate increase. Councillor s at South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) voted in the increase, which they hope will improve town centre use, rather than discourage it. Councillor Philip Dixon, who represents Kendal Town ward, thinks people will always get in an uproar over parking charges. He said: “Cheap parking does not energise town centres, so we are happy to suggest a modest increase for the town centre car parks.
