Green recovery report: Just 12% of global Covid-19 stimulus will benefit climate and nature G20 nations have spent $14.9trn on Covid-19 stimulus packages for businesses since the Covid-19 pandemic began - but only 12% has gone to industries with a positive impact in the fight against climate change and nature loss. Funding for fossil fuels has been, globally, greater than for low-carbon sectors - and much funding has been provided without environmental conditions That is according to the latest edition of the Greenness of Stimulus Index from think-tanks Vivid Economics and Finance for Biodiversity (F4B), published today (12 February). The updated edition includes all packages announced by Joe Biden since he took up office as US President earlier this year.
