LAKE CITY The first baby of 2021 at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City has arrived.
Stewart Memorial Community Hospital (SMCH) in Lake City was recently presented the 2021 Women’s Choice Award as one of America’s best hospitals for obstetrics. Jenni Macke, SMCH Manager of Obstetrics, says they are excited and honored to receive this recognition for the fifth time since 2013. “The birth of a baby is a magical time. I have helped mothers in labor and delivery for 26 years, and I still love the anticipation and birth experience,” Macke says. “Dr. Derek Duncan and Dr. Susan Hornback are extremely knowledgeable, caring and compassionate as they welcome babies into the world and it is a pleasure to work with them.” Macke adds that the nurses have bedside techniques to aid in delivery and the board-certified anesthetists play a critical role in comfort solutions and pain management.
