POLICE are hunting a driver who failed to stop after almost striking a police officer who was helping with a broken down vehicle on the A1 last Friday. Officers were assisting with the breakdown just before the Wallyford slip road on the eastbound (southbound) carriageway at about 10.52pm. A lane one closure had been implemented when a dark-coloured vehicle, believed to be a Nissan Note, collided with police cones, almost striking a police vehicle and an officer who was standing within the closed lane. The vehicle failed to stop and continued south on the A1. East Lothian Police have appealed for any information or dash cam footage to be sent to PC Stewart Logan, Dalkeith road policing, quoting incident number 4218 of December 18.
