SOM MDARD Celebrates Stewardship Week with Michigan Association of Conservation Districts (MACD) For immediate release: April 26, 2021 LANSING, MI - The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD), in partnership with the Michigan Association of Conservation Districts (MACD), is celebrating Stewardship Week, April 25 - May 2, a nationwide program led by the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) that recognizes the importance of natural resource conservation. This year s theme is Healthy Forests, Healthy Communities. Michigan s 20.3 million acres of forests contribute significantly toward the values and quality-of-life shared by its residents, said MDARD Director Gary McDowell. Roughly nine million acres are owned by individuals and families. MDARD works with these landowners to manage their land sustainably through the Forestry Assistance Program and Qualified Forest Program, which are carried out by the 75 Conservation Districts in Michi

BY Press Release | April 20, 2021 The National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) Stewardship Week is one of the largest national programs to promote natural resource conservation. Celebrated annually since 1955 between the last Sunday in April and the first Sunday in May, the NACD Stewardship Week reminds us of our individual responsibilities to care for natural resources. The Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District (LENRD) is a member of the NACD and partners with them in celebrating Stewardship Week. This year we celebrate from April 25 – May 2, focusing on the theme “Healthy Forests, Healthy Communities.” The LENRD’s mission is to improve the quality of life for the citizens across all or parts of the district’s 15-counties, working together to protect our natural resources for future.

SWCD announces 2021 Stewardship Week

Staff and submitted information The Van Wert Soil & Water Conservation District encourages local residents to think about their personal responsibility to be a good steward of natural resources during its annual Stewardship Week celebration. The National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) has proclaimed April 25-May 2 as Stewardship Week, marking the 66th year for the national event.  The 2021 Stewardship Week is themed “Healthy Forests = Healthy Communities,” encouraging citizens, schools and communities to develop and maintain habitat areas using good conservation practices.  The Van Wert SWCD was formed to assist people in Van Wert County to protect and conserve the natural resources for all residents by providing technical, educational, and financial assistance. During Stewardship Week, the Van Wert SWCD will provide a black gum seedling to each fourth-grade student in the county and Stewardship Week bags with activities will be available at the Soil and Water
