TECUMSEH The Tecumseh City Council unanimously approved a contract with Stevens Disposal & Recycling Service Monday after a compromise to make use of the 96-gallon totes optional.
The trash contract eliminates the 96-gallon totes for recycling and gives each homeowner the option of getting the 96-gallon tote for trash. Trash bags will continue to be picked up from the curb. The 18-gallon recycling bins will continue to be picked up once a week.
The charge per unit for the carts has gone down from the original price of $1.90 per unit to 50 cents per unit, per month. The city will have to order the carts in bulk, with a bulk load constituting 702 carts at a cost of $351.00 per month.
