Today, Rhino releases another set of high-quality quadraphonic releases, back in circulation after nearly 50 years; this next set features Average White Band’s Self-Titled (1974), Gil Evans’ Svengali (1973), Randy Newman’s Good Old Boys (1974) and WAR’s The World Is A Ghetto (1972).
Little Feat's beginning was a slow burn, bolstered by the faith of record company execs as the band found its groove. Once it found its, um, feat, the band thrived through deaths and other turmoil. In fact, they're still at it. This fall, according to Rhino Records, the band will be performing "on back-to-back nights . at selected venues" the two albums that document the time they found their way: 1972's Sailin' Shoes and 1973's Dixie Chicken.
‘Billion Dollar Babies’ by Alice Cooper, ‘Paranoid’ by Black Sabbath, ‘Nightmares… and Other Tales from the Vinyl Jungle’ by The J. Geils Band, and ‘Red Octopus’ by Jefferson Starship are being reissued in Quadrophonic sound on Bluray.
Rhino is a respected name in the audiophile community, renowned for their exceptional and quality catalog releases. Following the success of The Doobie Brothers: Quadio (2020) and Chicago Quadio (2016) sets, Rhino will release a slew of seminal 1970s albums recorded in quadraphonic sound.
Quadraphonic sound, or 4.0 surround sound, utilizes four audio channels connected to four speakers positioned at the corners of a listening space. The multi-tracked audio is mixed dimensional, immersing the listener in an expansive soundscape.
