he really sort of took over the series. a lot of people feel awkward. so, in the weirdest way, he instilled self-pride in other people. it s like, hey, that guy can be awkward, go after the girl of his dreams and share what he s about with others. so what d you invent this time? well, you ll see. [ farting noise ] [ laughter ] in our neighborhoods where you had to be such a tough guy when you re outside your house, this was the character that you get to be when you re with family members and friends and you can be your goofy self and dance around. steve urcle made the statement that we can be whatever we want. i played bruce lee. i played elvis. albert einstein. family matters was set in chicago and it was about the winslow family. hello, ladies. i thought we d all do our homework together. and they had this really annoying neighbor steve urcle. when i went to audition, i was just supposed to be a day player. that s it. i brought the glasses. they belonged to my father. he gave me his glasses and they just kind of wobbled on my face. i hear you can t get a date for the dance. [ laughter ] so you wanna go with me? she d rather eat worms. k, some other time then. he was so quirky and so odd but he was so beloved. he loves poker, he loves cheese. got any cheese? [ laughter ] he had the dancing and did i do that? [ laughter ] did i do that?
if you don t come out of there, i m going to have to drag you out. you can try, but you ll never catch me. [ laughter ] bazinga. bazinga. we live in an age now where being nerdy and being super geeky about something is cool. that s not really your logo, is it? it looks like a guy sucking a [ bleep ] and he s got another behind his ear. but that was not the case decades ago, and i think the sitcom had a large part in pushing geek culture to the forefront.
