DAYTONA BEACH The increased push by retailers to provide online shoppers with same- or next-day delivery is creating a need for more distribution centers within a short drive to large numbers of customers.
That could transform Volusia County into a major distribution hub in the coming years, predicts commercial real estate broker David Murphy, an executive vice president with CBRE, a commercial real estate services and investment firm in Orlando. They re coming, Murphy told a recent gathering of the Volusia County Association for Responsible Development, also known as VCARD.
Noting that Volusia County is at the intersection of Interstate 4 and Interstate 95 within an hour s drive of 2.7 million residents, Murphy forecast that the Daytona Beach area will become like Lakeland within the next few years. Today, the Lakeland area is home to more than 30 distribution centers, including three Amazon facilities, as well as fulfillment centers for Publix, Walmart, Home Depot, L
DAYTONA BEACH As national retail and restaurant chains flock to this city s fast-growing LPGA area, Vittorio and Catarina Tiano quietly opened their new eatery on West International Speedway Boulevard in January. If this location (at One Daytona) didn t pop up as being available, we probably wouldn t have opened a second location, said Catarina Tiano. She and her husband also run a Tiano s restaurant that opened in 2009 next to New Smyrna Beach Municipal Golf Course.
The new Tiano s across from Daytona International Speedway is one of a handful of new stores and restaurants that have opened along ISB in recent months.
