Heres a look at some of the conditions that drivers had to contend with in an effort to make it to the thanks giving destination. David has been tracking the trip across Northern Virginia all day. He is live in hay market, virginia, with the accidents along the way. Test the roads we did to a lot of driving. We started out in arlington where this this cold rain coming down. We headed into western Fairfax County that crossover snow began and we made our way out to winchester where it was a much heavier snow. It was a tough commute on this thanksgiving eve. Pretty much all of Frederick County is getting in on that snow at the moment. Not a lot, but we do have light snow showers falling. The major issue from this is going to be with temperatures rapidly dropping. We could see refreezing and because those snow showers could reduce visibility, we have a Winter Weather advisory in effect until midnight for the entire metro area. As the snow moves out, the cold front moves out and the winds move in and we have a high wind warning. Usually you see us post wind advisories. This is a wind warning. The winds could gust as high as 60 Miles Per Hour from right now all the way through 2 00 a. M. On our wind gust tracker, you see how strong the winds get. Any shading in a yellow is an indication of winds of 40 Miles Per Hour or stronger. Thats kind of the threshold for damaging winds.
