Sundhu to again seek federal New Democrat nomination in Kamloops

After the election, in December 2018, Sundhu became president of the Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo NDP riding association. Raised in Williams Lake, Sundhu’s father was among the first from India to settle in the community. He moved to Kamloops in the 1990s and has called the city home for a quarter-century. Sundhu is married with two adult children, both of whom are attending grad school. As a human rights lawyer, Sundhu noted he has represented single parents, workers, shopkeepers and racialized and indigenous persons locally, nationally and internationally. Sundhu said he is seeking the nomination because he believes we are living in one of the most “critical” times in history, with the economy, health-care system, environment and democracy at stake.

Kamloops MP McLeod will not seek re-election

“It s certainly been an honour, privilege and pleasure to serve you over the past 12 years,” McLeod said in a statement. “As I go throughout the riding, I look at the many initiatives that we worked on together, the wonderful people I ve met and, of course, in Ottawa, the opportunity to make a real difference on the national stage in terms of influencing the direction of our country.” In an interview with KTW, McLeod said the decision was “difficult,” but noted she is looking forward to the next chapter, which she is not sure of yet. She said she will be doing something that is not “all-encompassing,” with the role of an MP being 24/7, she said.
