COVID-19 deaths reported in Mason County … Latest case data in Gallia, Mason and Meigs

OHIO VALLEY Two COVID-19 related deaths were reported in Mason County over the weekend as new cases were reported around the region.
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reported two additional deaths associated with COVID-19 on Sunday.
Local schools
Eastern Local School District reported on Monday a “positive COVID-19 case involving a student or staff member at Eastern Local High School.”
In the letter posted to the district website, Supt. Steve Ohlinger stated, “This positive case involves our high school boys’ basketball team and as a result will have all activities halted for the next 14 days.”
COVID cases reported in Mason, Gallia … Vaccine clinic held in Meigs

OHIO VALLEY State agencies reported new COVID-19 cases in both Gallia and Mason Counties on Thursday, as the Meigs County Health Department hosted it’s second vaccine clinic of the week.
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reported 27 additional cases of COVID-19 on Thursday in Mason County.
The Ohio Department of Health reported 13 new cases in Gallia County on Thursday.
The Meigs County Health Department hosted the second vaccine clinic for those age 80 and older on Thursday at the Meigs County Fairgrounds. A total of 100 vaccines were scheduled to be given on Thursday.
Eastern Board holds organizational meeting

REEDSVILLE Floyd Ridenour was selected as the Eastern Local Board of Education President during the organizational meeting held this month.
Brandon Buckley was named vice president; Adam Will was named legislative liaison; and Jessica Staley was named student achievement liaison. Sammi Mugrage is the fifth member of the board.
The board established the following committees for the 2021 Calendar Year: Policy, Jessica Staley and Samantha Mugrage; Building & Grounds, Brandon Buckley and Floyd Ridenour; Personnel, Brandon Buckley and Adam Will; Public Relations, Floyd Ridenour and Adam Will.

New death reported in Mason… 45 new cases reported in tri-county

OHIO VALLEY One new death and 45 new cases were reported throughout the tri-county region on Tuesday.
The Mason County Health Department reported an additional death on Tuesday a male in the 60-69 year age range. This makes 14 total deaths in the county due to COVID-19. The health department also reported 12 new cases.
The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) reported 25 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday in Gallia County, making 1,494 total cases since March.
The Meigs County Health Department reported eight new of COVID-19 on Tuesday. There are currently 83 active cases in the county.
